For just $30 a child you can provide a special holiday experience for each of the 291 children attending the South Los Angeles Youth Center’s after preschool and after school programs. For many children there this is their only holiday celebration.
South Central Los Angeles is one of the most dangerous parts of Los Angeles. The children that live in this district are at great risk. However, in the middle of this area shines a beacon of hope – The Salvation Army South Los Angeles Youth & Community Center.
The Youth Center is one safe place the kids in this neighborhood can go to play, do homework and meet friends. More importantly, the staff and volunteers are vital role models that provide mentoring and show these kids a life outside of gangs. Since 2006 our charitable foundation has contributed $40,000 to the center each year funding their weekend programs and keeping their doors open each Saturday.
